Coach Information
To compete in the Northern Virginia Regional MATHCOUNTS competition, schools and Non-School Competitors (NSCs) must first register on the MATHCOUNTS Foundation’s website Register for MATHCOUNTS.
Coaches, who are often teachers or parents, work with the Mathletes to foster their interest in math and to prepare them for the competitions.
Important Dates for 2025-2026 MATHCOUNTS Competition Series

| Aug. 15, 2025 | • Registration begins for the MATHCOUNTS Competition Series for Schools at the Early Bird Rate of $40/student for schools. Register for MATHCOUNTS. • Competition Series coaches and Non-School Competitors (NSCs) receive a School Competition Kit, which includes a hard copy of the 2025-2026 MATHCOUNTS School Handbook. Kits are shipped on an ongoing basis from mid-August to late January. |
| Nov. 5, 2025 | • Early Bird Registration Deadline: Last Day to register at the Early Bird Registration Rate of $40/student for schools. After this date, the Regular Registration Rate of $45/student for schools is implemented. Register for MATHCOUNTS. • The 2026 School Competition is released to coaches on the Coach Dashboard. • Non-school competitor (NSC) registration opens at a rate of $70/NSC for students whose official school of record will not register for the Competition Series and will not support their participation through the school. Register an NSC for MATHCOUNTS. |
| Dec. 15, 2025 | Regular Registration Deadline: Last day to register at the Regular Registration Rate of $45/student for schools and $70/NSC. After this date, registration will cost $50/student for schools and $80/NSC. While many local coordinators will accept new registrations after this date, please register on time to ensure your students’ participation and avoid late fees. Register for MATHCOUNTS. |
| Early January 2026 | Registered coaches/parents will receive details about the upcoming chapter competition. If you don’t, please contact our Coordinator for Coach Communications at coaches@novamathcounts.org. |
| Feb. 7, 2026 (tentative) | 2026 Northern Virginia Regional Competition. Further information is available on the 2026 Competition Schedule page. |
| Mar. 1 – 31, 2026 | 2026 State Competition. Information will be provided to the advancing Mathletes and coaches. |
| May 10 – 11, 2026 | The 2026 RTX MATHCOUNTS National Competition is held in Orlando, FL. Information will be provided to the advancing Mathletes and coach. |
