Northern Virginia Region MATHCOUNTS

MATHCOUNTS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides engaging math programs for middle school (6th–8th grade) students in US schools to build confidence and improve attitudes about math and problem solving. One of these programs is the annual MATHCOUNTS Competition Series in which students can progress from school to chapter, state, and national competitions.  Since 1984, the annual Northern Virginia Regional MATHCOUNTS Competition has been held in February for three Virginia MATHCOUNTS chapters (Fairfax, Northern Virginia, and George Washington).  Recent competitions have typically had 350 – 450 Mathletes from 35 – 50 schools and is one of the larger competitions in the nation.
